This edition of Funtastic Five featured our signature theme: “Voices That Connect”—a celebration of self-expression and the power of words. The event brought together young participants for an engaging, educational, and interactive session focused on communication and self-expression.

Captain Funtastic – Ahad Ali Siddique welcomed all participants warmly, introducing the theme: five powerful ways to express oneself including reading, spelling, storytelling, speaking, and connecting with others. Miss Farah, CEO of Affreej, shared her excitement for the event and appreciation for the participants. 

The event was based on five powerful segments:

🧩 Social Interactions – “Let’s Get to Know Each Other!”

Each child introduced themselves by sharing:

– Their name
– School and grade
– Favorite book, game, or color

Participants confidently shared personal favorites like Planet Omar, The Secret Seven, Fortnite, and Roblox.

📖 Reading Aloud – “Bringing Words to Life”

Participants took turns reading parts of a short story displayed on screen. The activity aimed to develop reading fluency, confidence, and expression.

🐝 Spelling Bee – “Buzz It Right!”

Participants engaged in a fun and educational spelling round designed to improve vocabulary and boost confidence. The activity included common words and themed vocabulary, and students demonstrated strong recall and clarity while spelling aloud.

✍️ Round Robin Storytelling – “Pass the Plot!”

Children were given real-life social situations and asked to respond politely and kindly while maintaining a smile. Scenarios included:

– Dropping a friend’s pencil
– Disagreeing respectfully
– Receiving a gift they didn’t like
– Accidentally bumping into someone

This segment encouraged polite, constructive communication.

🎙️ Public Speaking – “Share Your Shine!”

Children were encouraged to practice public speaking by sharing short thoughts, favorite lines, or describing images shown to them. This segment helped enhance their confidence, clarity of speech, and expressive ability in a supportive environment.

Key educational takeaways included:

– Understanding fairness
– Recognizing injustice
– The power of peaceful resistance and clever thinking

Participants also reflected on the story’s morals, highlighting lessons about argument avoidance, honesty, and standing up for oneself.

The session concluded with praise from Captain Funtastic and acknowledgment of each child’s efforts. Participants were encouraged to give themselves virtual claps and hearts. The event emphasized confidence, collaboration, and communication skills in a fun and memorable way.
