Water Filter Design

Welcome to Week 3 of the Affreej STEM Challenge Series!

This week, take on a real-world engineering challenge — design a simple water filter to clean dirty water. It’s all about creativity, problem-solving, and learning how science can help solve global issues like access to clean water.

🧰 Materials
You can use any or all of the following:

• Sand
• Gravel
• Cotton
• Coffee Filter
• Dirty Water (use food coloring or mix soil for effect)

📏 Challenge Rules
Design a filter that:

• Uses only the materials listed
• Visibly improves the clarity of the dirty water
• Can be demonstrated in a short video or photo
• Is built within 20 minutes
